Book: Sovay
Author: Celia Rees
Story: Sovay, driven by anger towards her unfaithful beau, disguises herself as a highway robber, to test his faith and see if the rumours are true. She planned to only do it once, but excitement and the feeling of being in command, as well as her fathers disappearance and dangerous accusations towards her family, makes her don her brothers clothes again. And so is the beginning of the notorious Captain Blaze.
Opinion: I love this book, the mix of French Revolution and charming and dangerous highway-men are completely perfect for me. The descriptions are perfect, the settings are perfect and the love interests are perfectly impossible. It ticked every box, but the only thing that made me walk away disappointed was the fact that it was slightly anticlimactic, after the pure excitement and perfectness of the rest of the book, the end of it just didn’t live up to expectations. But I thoroughly enjoyed the rest.
